No. 14
This painting is a reflection of the delicate—and often frustrating—balance between intention and chance. It started as something entirely different, but after struggling to translate my vision onto the canvas, I stripped it back and sanded it down. Layers of oil washes and stains were built up, erased, and reworked, each step shaped by both control and unpredictability. What remains is the result of that process—frustration, adjustment, and ultimately letting the painting become what it needed to be.
Oil, gold and metal leaf, marker on canvas
60" x 48" x 1.5"
Deep, burnished orange-browns, mustard yellows, rosy pinks, hints of yellowish-green, dark shades of earthy greens, emerging lilacs, and swaths of persimmon and coral hues.
